Imogene McCormick – Chicago, IL
As a kid, I used a camera with a flash cube and film. Now, I exclusively use a cell phone camera which has built-in flash and it’s readily available with advanced photo editing capabilities.
In 2020, it changed our whole world, but mine in particular. The lockdown meant I stayed home a lot. Then I grew a flower garden and documented its growth. I included the fascinating insects that perched themselves on the plants. I say that the garden saved my life because it gave me a purpose and reason to go outside.
Then 2021 changed my world again, when after having puzzling symptoms for years, I was officially diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Now, I am one of three biological family members diagnosed with it. Once again, photography is my saving grace as it’s fun to look back at photos that have amazing clarity or composition.
