Despite having MS, I have continued painting and my favorite medium is acrylic paint and my favorite subjects are dogs! I am 62 years old, a retired attorney, and a lifetime dog lover.

Not too many years after my diagnosis, when I was consumed, thinking of the things I couldn’t do anymore, I started a non-profit organization which rescues blind dogs. A blind dog named Tootsie had taken residence in my house after being abandoned on my street, and it was her upbeat, determined, courageous and amazing adjustment to a life without sight that convinced me to perceive life in terms of what I could do, not what I couldn’t.

Since beginning Tootsie’s Vision in 2015, my non-profit has saved well over 200 blind and visually impaired dogs from death and found wonderful homes for each of them. After Tootsie’s death, I adopted four myself! I have written three children’s books on blind dogs, have appeared several times on television, and have spoken to groups at libraries, schools and community centers. Multiple sclerosis has definitely affected my life, limiting my energy, strength and stamina. But I am grateful for my continuing ability to change other lives for the better.
