MSAA’s Publications Honored by the 30th Annual APEX Awards
The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) is proud to announce that we have received two awards from the 30th Annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence! These were given for MSAA’s informative booklet, Understanding Progression in MS, and for the Summer/Fall 2017 edition of The Motivator.
MSAA was presented with an Award of Excellence in the Health & Medical Writing category for our Understanding Progression in MS booklet. Understanding Progression in MS largely focuses on the progressive forms of multiple sclerosis: secondary-progressive MS (SPMS) and primary-progressive MS (PPMS), which are more challenging in terms of both information available and treatment. The booklet begins with general background information, aimed to assist anyone who is not familiar with the disease. Following this introduction, the booklet offers extensive information about how progression is measured and assessed in MS, revised classifications of MS, what processes are involved in the development and worsening of the disease, treatment options, symptom management, and more.
Additionally, MSAA received an Award of Excellence in the Magazines, Journals & Tabloids category for print publications 32 pages and longer for the Summer/Fall 2017 edition of The Motivator. This edition of the magazine includes the cover story, “Home and Lifestyle Modifications for Safety and Accessibility,” which focuses on various strategies for better living at home with multiple sclerosis. Our “Ask the Doctor” column, “Research News,” “Stories to Inspire,” and recent fundraising events are among the other features included in the Summer/Fall 2017 issue.
According to Communications Concepts, Inc., more than 1,400 entries were received for the 2018 APEX Awards competition. A total of 556 Awards of Excellence were awarded to exceptional entries in 100 subcategories. APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.
