Leslie Pino Durant – Placitas, NM
Leslie Pino Durant, based in Placitas, New Mexico, is a mixed-media artist diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She started painting in her late 40s as a therapeutic outlet, which evolved into a journey of artistic growth. Her process involves vibrant collage, acrylic drips, pencil marks, and stencils, shifting from spontaneous to intentional, refining composition, color, and value. She reflects between layers, allowing images to develop organically with sharing her work being the most exhilarating part. Her art celebrates strong women symbolizing solidarity and resilience, often depicted in bright colors amidst flourishing flowers. Since her 2020 debut, Leslie has exhibited widely, with her art featured on the cover of The International Journal of MS Care and in MSAA Art Showcases (2020-2025). She approaches her daily studio work with gratitude and passion and is also the Social Media Specialist for the New Mexico Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
