When I was first diagnosed, I thought my world was ending. Suddenly things that were easy were becoming difficult to do. In 2014, I had a really large relapse which led me to become paralyzed on my right side. With that, I had to take short term disability for several months since it wasn’t safe for me to work without the full use of my body. I came across an old window in my basement and thought, “I could make something out of that.” Working with small items would help with my fingers (OT would be happy)… plus I got to vent frustrations by breaking glass. 🙂
I realized I could turn items that may be looked at as “trash” to others into something beautiful. It also seemed like a good metaphor for my life. Sure, MS is not fun. But we can always find the good/beauty out of a situation.
