Alan Deacon – Williamsville, NY
Alan Deacon is an award-winning artist, advocate, and co-founder of Phoenix Rising Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation. Diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis in 2005 and using a wheelchair since 2012, Alan began painting in 2019 after losing the use of his arms and hands. He creates watercolor and mixed-media artwork by holding a brush with adaptive equipment, transforming limitations into expression. His work is inspired by faith, nature, horses, and everyday moments that reflect hope, perseverance, and grace. Alan’s art has been featured in exhibitions and publications, and 100% of proceeds from his artwork support the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected horses. Through his art and story, Alan seeks to inspire others to find purpose, creativity, and joy in the face of adversity.
