Patricia Nosanchuk – Salt Lake City, UT

I grew up in a small rural town called Providence in Northern Utah founded by my Mormon ancestors. My first home was an A-Frame house at the base of Providence Canyon with Spring Creek running through our backyard. After completing three college degrees including an M.S. in Economics and working as an analyst, I became disabled and couldn’t work due to mental illness and suicide attempts. Afterward, I turned to art as therapy which was a reprieve. With progress in medications, I recovered and could work successfully but later had to retire because my cognitive skills were compromised by multiple sclerosis. I was also experiencing drop foot and falling. Meditation and art are my solaces. Recovery and healing are my forte resulting in remission and halting the progression of my disease. Tandem walking backward and forward as well as sideways walking have improved my balance, and I’m not falling anymore.
