“Visual Silhouette” is a multimedia painting of gouache, watercolor, and acrylic on heavy paper. The silhouette woman and gears were originally created for a 3-dimensional skit. I painted a sheet of heavy-weighted paper with cool and warm colors around the same time, with no intention as to its end purpose. They had one commonality, they were both created during the time I was diagnosed with MS. Two years later, after a bought of optic neuritis I decided to pull out the paper and paint the silhouette on it. The grey shadows of the silhouette are a visual description of what I see now – similar to astigmatism.
I’ve done artwork using various mediums for approximately ten years, mostly for hobby reasons. Art has never been my chosen vocation, it chose me. It has served as my safe haven and escape while riding the seesaw and ferris wheel of MS.
