Patricia Pisel – Hudson, FL

I am 67 years old, a wife, and mother of 2 boys and 2 girls. I was first diagnosed with MS in 2007. At the time my husband and I owned and operated our flower shop. Since February 1978 I have owned a flower shop and green houses. 30 years of growing bedding plants of flowers and vegetables, hanging flower baskets, 1000’s weddings, corsages for High School proms. Created memorial pots and sympathy tributes. I loved helping customers with decorating their gardens or homes and always considered I was blessed to be able to have my hobby and express my love of flowers and nature as a career. It was never a job. In 2008 I couldn’t take the stress of emotions I was feeling when someone came in for flowers they needed for their loved ones. Deadlines for a moment’s notice of funeral. I would get foggy, and the room seemed to spin. I thought I was having a stroke.

It has taken me 5 years to be thankful. I have MS to live with, not cancer, stroke, or worse. MS has slowed me down and gave me time to enjoy my family and friends and appreciate my good days. I can fish on cool days. Take my time and cook, read a book, and my new hobby of painting. Very relaxing.
