Kristan Simmons – Johnson City, TN

My name is Kristan Simmons, and I was diagnosed with MS in 2010. As the disease has progressed, I have become unable to work so I taught myself to paint. I also have bipolar disorder and painting is my source of escape from my reality. Being medically restricted from driving, all I have is my art. I am mostly a folk realism artist, but I love to try different types like abstract, impressionistic, and cubism. I teach art to children in schools as an in-school field trip. I teach all ages how to paint step by step, and love to see how everyone can create art and feel good about themselves.
