Janice Sangle – West Milford, NJ

My name is Janice Sangle and I live in West Milford New Jersey. I was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1992 when I was working as a nurse, I was having difficulty lifting my right foot and my balance was off.

My love of painting started when I was in high school, then was put on pause to pursue my education, career and family. I now paint as a form of therapy with hand eye coordination, arm strengthening and socialization when painting with a group of friends who also have MS. I have also adapted my tools and makeshift arm supports, which I love, it enables me to paint more comfortably so I don’t fatigue as fast. When I paint I feel I can transport myself into my paintings without the need of my wheelchair. In one of my paintings “Paradise Found” I visualize myself sitting on a rock wiggling my toes in the water.
