Lisa Marie Smith – Houston, TX
Living with MS is a daily challenge, but painting has become a form of therapy for me. I’ve learned that the challenges of MS seem a bit less daunting when I watch one of my paintings slowly come to life on the canvas in front of me.
I began painting in January of 2024 after joining Art League Houston’s Healing Arts program. That’s where I learned that I could create art using my imagination, a blank canvas, some paint brushes, and an assortment of beautiful paint colors.
Getting lost in the process of painting a picture takes my focus off of the daily struggles of MS, which isn’t always easy to do, but often needed and always welcome!
