Karen Loftus – Salem, OR

In 2013, I was diagnosed with RMS. In 2017, I began painting again after a 30-year hiatus. After a life-altering relapse in 2019, I was temporarily paralyzed down the right side. The doctors also confirmed that I also have Brown-Séquard syndrome.

On June 21, 2024, my most beloved younger sister, (and best friend), Jackie, passed away from bile duct cancer. This has negatively impacted my entire life and the grief is overwhelming. She was my biggest cheerleader and always wanted a painting of mine. Since losing her, it’s hard to paint now. But I persevere for her.
