Since my diagnosis with multiple sclerosis in 2016, I’ve turned to artwork to explore my emotions and develop my creativity. I especially like the Japanese Kintsugi traditional art of making things beautiful at the broken places. With MS, we have many broken places, yet we guard them and become stronger. The gold barbed wire is an apt metaphor for developing a beautiful resilience throughout life. The bowl is stronger yet remains open to receive new things.
I am a disabled veteran. I served as an Army JAG officer and currently volunteer with the Paralyzed Veterans of America Organization.
