Michelle Román-Lopez – Quincy, MA

My name is Michelle Román, and I was born on the lovely island of Puerto Rico. Surrounded by beautiful people, land, creatures, and nature, I developed a great sense of inspiration which later in time translated into my visual arts. I remember back in 2010, while I was still working in retail, I started experiencing imbalance symptoms and decided to visit my doctor. I explained my situation to them and without any hesitation, concluded it was “all in my head.” Frustrated and not being able to find the right answers, I decided to move to Massachusetts, where in time, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Making art has given me the opportunity to stay busy and productive, and at the same time, it brings a new sense of purpose to my life. That’s why I share my joy and experience as much as possible. It makes me happy.
