Barbara Patrick – Menlo Park, CA

I am an artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing. When I was diagnosed with MS, my right hand was temporarily paralyzed. I also had five hand surgeries due to carpal tunnel. I experience a lot of shakiness, which makes soldering and other tasks difficult. Recently, I’ve been spending time doing photography and painting which are easier on my hands. I love painting watercolors. They brighten my day.

The Museum of Arts and Design in NYC has two of my metalsmithing pieces in its Permanent Collection. Photos of my jewelry have been published in books and magazines, as well as on my personal website. I have also been honored to have shown in group exhibitions overseas. I love being an artist, and I’m pleased with how my paintings and photographs are developing.
