Katharine Roman – Warwick, NY
After attending three colleges and two art schools, I got a BFA from the University of Illinois. Art school affords the time to hone your skills. I was also fortunate enough to find a fine mentor who helped me with my art skills.
Life then intervened – marriage, children, mortgage, divorce, survival work. I taught privately at an architect firm and federal prison.
The MS symptoms came and went – sometimes as clockwork. I have the usual culprit problems. The most annoying is the nystagmus. I must draw, read and write, while my knees are my easel.
Recently at my neuro-ophthalmologist’s office, I was experiencing visual problems and while looking at my daughter, noticed she had several sets of eyes, with one in the middle. I told my doctor. He said paint it!!!
I turned 80 on November 25, 2017. I am still waiting to realize my potential.
