On June 12, 2000 – my 48th birthday – I had an MRI done at Willis Eye Hospital Emergency Room, where I went when I suddenly lost sight in my right eye. That MRI led to a speedy diagnosis of MS (Thankfully, my sight returned after steroid treatment). The following year I was laid off my administrative assistant job and became a full-time homemaker and artist.
With Copaxone, ample rest, careful diet and exercise, my strength returned and my hands stopped shaking. It took several years to get into my “artistic groove”, but gradually I settled into my home studio and established an almost-daily routine of painting with acrylics. In 2008, I set up shop on Etsy.com to sell my still life paintings and custom portraits of people and pets, which I specialize in now.
I am blessed to have natural talent and the time and means to make painting my life work. Hopefully, my art makes people smile and helps them celebrate everyday life.
