Patricia Nosanchuk – Salt Lake City, UT

I was raised in Providence, Utah where I became a skier and damaged my knees; by 19 I had a mental breakdown and was diagnosed as bipolar. Following my recovery, I earned three college degrees including an M.S. in Economics. After working as an analyst, I studied toward a Ph.D. and became ill again. I turned to art therapy and as a reprieve. Then I recovered and could work successfully, but later had to retire because my cognitive skills were compromised by MS. Experiencing drop foot and falling, I went from wearing an AFO foot brace to walking on my own and haven’t had an MS relapse since. I live in chronic pain, but my cognitive deficits, bipolar disorder, and MS are in remission. Meditation and art are my solace. I can breathe, hear, and see while watching the universe unfold which has healed any illness I have had.
