Since 1987, one of the consequences/opportunities of MS has been that I had to continuously reinvent myself to maximize my current talents and surmount obstacles. In the past, I crafted with charcoal, pen/ ink, pastels and acrylic as well as my first love: textile arts.
Two years ago, a major exacerbation confined me to the house for six months in intensive rehab. While I have regained many skills and abilities, I wasn’t sure if I was going to regain enough eye sight and dexterity to do art again, sinking into a deep depression.
Thankfully, I discovered alcohol inks. Vibrant and slightly unpredictable but most importantly, allow me to create art with easy to handle tools like Q-tips, cotton balls, straws and eye droppers. I save the brush work for my “good” days. Now I am a member of Brig Artists’ Studio and I am exploring abstract art in acrylics.
