MSAA Expands MRI Assistance and Helpline Hours

To help meet the escalating demand for MRI assistance, MSAA is pleased to announce new program changes to the MRI Access Fund, which will increase our ability to serve more clients than ever before. Qualified clients can now receive two MRI scans (brain and c-spine) per application as well as reimbursement support for previous MRI scans.

Under the reimbursement option, applicants must still apply to the MRI Access Fund, provide required documentation, and meet income eligibility requirements. For qualified clients who have had a cranial and/or c-spine MRI with a date of service from July 1, 2017 to present, MSAA will pay the remaining costs up to a maximum of $600 per MRI. MSAA will pay the billing facility directly. We will not reimburse individual clients. Also, please note that the 24-month wait period to reapply for MRI assistance is still in effect. To learn more and apply, please visit the MRI Access Fund page or call (800) 532-7667, ext. 154.

With a goal of expanding MSAA’s national reach to clients in the country’s mid and western regions, the MSAA toll-free Helpline now offers Wednesday evening hours until 8:00 pm EST. By calling (800) 532-7667, ext. 154, people can speak with an MSAA Client Services Specialist who can help answer questions, provide resources, and offer encouragement and support to individuals living with MS and the people close to them. In addition to the Wednesday evening hours, individuals can connect with an MSAA Client Services Specialist during normal Helpline hours between 8:30 am and 5 pm EST, Monday through Friday; through email at MSquestions@mymsaa.org and on our website’s MS Chat feature.
