Brittany Brydges – Riverside, NJ
I’m Brittany Brydges, an artist and art teacher living and working in New Jersey. Growing up in the New Jersey Pine Barrens strongly shaped how I understand and engage with the world. The region’s landscape, native plants and animals, and traces of human history continue to inform the subject matter of my work.
Art has long been a steady and grounding practice for me, particularly during periods of difficulty and uncertainty. After years of unexplained and fluctuating illness, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in August of 2025. As I continue to adjust to this reality, my relationship with time, energy, and self-care has shifted. I approach my practice with greater intention, adapting my tools, materials, and pace as needed. I believe that making art is a radical act of self-care and a quiet celebration of the endurance of the human spirit.
