Living with MS for close to 33 years presents many challenges. However, I find peace by creating art. This keeps my mind off MS and the things that I can’t do. My go- to is watercolor paint, but I’ve never met an art supply I didn’t like. I’m involved in an online artists group, where we draw, paint and sketch our interpretations from daily photo prompts. This keeps me motivated and accountable. My work has improved over the last two years with this supportive group of artists. I also joined online art therapy classes for people with MS. Both platforms encourage me to try new things and create personal art that speaks to my disease. Last year, my work was included with that of other artists with MS in an exhibit called, “Creating Order”, at dnj Gallery in Santa Monica. As with MSAA’s Artist Showcase, this was stimulating and exciting. I hope for more opportunities to collaborate with others with MS.
