Sally MacAllister – Bend, OR
I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS eight years ago. Since my mobility was becoming increasingly challenged, I knew I needed to find a new passion to replace my hiking and physical activities. I hadn’t really painted in over 48 years, but decided now was the time to test a latent talent and feed my soul. I moved to the Pacific Northwest and found an endlessly inspiring landscape and a supportive circle of artists and friends. If I didn’t have my art and the new avenues it has given me, I would succumb to the dark side of this disease. I paint mostly in acrylics and tend toward abstract impressions of the Cascade landscapes. In 2022, my oil painting “Cascade Sunset” was chosen in a juried competition to be the Sunriver Music Festival poster art – a huge honor for me. My art keeps me going in a positive direction.
