Painting grounds me when I’m feeling overwhelmed with life. I sit down at my easel and find myself calmed and focused watching the paint slide across the canvas. Sometimes I’m not sure what I’m about to paint until I pick a color and just start painting. When I was diagnosed with MS I started painting “Cosmic Night.” I didn’t really know it at the time, but looking back on it now, I see it as the sun setting on a part of my life and the darkness closing in with the unknown that comes with MS. I started out painting these bright bold colors and slowly replaced them all with black. Getting a diagnosis of MS is scary at any age let alone at 27. I’ve since then learned that with the love and support I have from my amazing husband; the sun will continue to rise again.
