I began drawing and painting in retirement as a way to relax and socialize with other retirees. Having Multiple Sclerosis made it a challenge for me to draw and paint. I got inspired, however, watching other retirees, who were coping with many other physical disabilities; produce such good looking art pictures and designs. I figured if they can draw and paint so can I.
I started using watercolors and found I had to adapt to a medium where the water runs all over the place. My MS was a problem; hands shake, vision problems, fatigue, etc. But, after a while I adapted the use of the paints, the brushes, and the handling of the water to my physical (dis)abilities. I try to draw and paint several times a week and now even have an extended social group that makes retirement even more enjoyable.
