Yvonne Decelis – Cambridge, MA

Yvonne Decelis was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1994. She later found out (in 2010) that she had Fibromyalgia. From the time she found out she was “unwell” she joined a few online support groups including one that inspired her to do work as an advocate for others with disabilities. She received a BA in Gerontology at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Boston in December of 2012. Her studies in the field of aging led to an interest in helping as many others in the disabled and elderly community.

Her goal as an author is to educate people on possible ways to improve their quality of life and to show them they are not alone in things they face and or feel. She also hopes to help loved ones; friends and/or colleagues understand things that many patients / sufferers go through on a day-to-day basis. Yvonne is now seeking her graduate degree in Masters of Aging Services at the University of Massachusetts’s McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies. She is also a “Medicare Part D” specialist and will soon be a fully trained “SHINE” counselor (to help people with their Medicare plans). She also does volunteer work to help Veterans with posttraumatic stress injuries.
