Joe Scheirman

My name is Joseph Scheirman and I am 62 years old. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1990. This is the first time I have considered entering anything to be showcased. I have always loved photography and writing. I have written four unpublished books. My MS disability retirement has afforded me the time to pursue my writing and artwork. The fatigue forces me to rest, and that gives me the opportunity to draw. I look forward to drawing more and expanding my talent. My MS wil not stop me from enjoying my writing and drawing, in fact it makes me determined to share my ideas and artwork with my family.

I retired from the US Army Reserve as a Sergeant Major after 38 years and as a Department of the Army Civilian after 25 years of service.

I have been married to my wife Jeannie for 36 years. We raised three children: Jeff (deceased), Jennifer, and Jo Ellen. Our family was honored in 1987 with the Great American Family Awarded presented by Nancy Reagan. We have three grandchildren: Jeffrey, Caitlin, and Caleb. I lived most of my life in Charleston, WV and retired to Mount Pleasant, SC in 2008.
