Barbara Dixon – Woodstock, GA

My name is Barbara Dixon and I have had MS since 2000.

All of my submissions are done in oils on canvas. My paintings reflect my transformation from my life with MS to the light of living my life through the energy and creativity of my subjects in my paintings. They do set me free.

What my painting mean to me:
1. Maggie – this is a portrait of my daughter who is studying violin in the conservatory at Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University. She is my shining beacon that MS has not stopped me. I live through her talent and amazing zest for life. I get to share it with her.

2. Napa Valley – I enjoyed painting this of a newlywed couple ready to start out on their journey together. This is a portrait I did for them to remember their joy and their love of their favorite chicken, Gladys.

3. Playing Stravinsky – (Musicians) This is from when my daughter played in the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra, during her senior year. I loved the pure dedication these young people had to the music and tried to capture that in the painting.
