Sheila Yost – Biloxi, MS

I live on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have been diagnosed with MS since 1986. Since I was forced to retire from teaching my precious 4 year olds in 1999, my art work helps me realize I still have something to share, with my family, friends and even those I don’t know personally. Since I began painting, I am more aware of the colors in the sunset over the Gulf, the changing of the leaves in Fall, and the wonder of God’s creations in general. There is so much beauty in the world around me, and through art I began to notice the delicate petals of the magnolias, the riches in antique pottery and the shrimp boats as they glide over the Gulf waters. I just began appreciating details in the things around me more. Even though it is harder now (shaky hands), my art makes me feel there is so much more I can do, just a bit slower, and sometimes in a different way than I did things in years past. Through my faith in God, I gain strength to never give up.
