Nicolena Nina Palumbo – Sparta, N.J.

Born and raised in the historic “Forest Hills” section of Newark, NJ, I have been painting and drawing since before grammar school and have spent many of my childhood summers sketching in the gardens located behind the Newark Museum. It is a dream of mine to someday see my paintings hang in that very museum. My sketch of a horse was entered in a statewide competition by my sixth grade art teacher and I won the first of many awards. My first actual art sales were of the oil painting “the inferno” and a Jimi Hendrix inspired guitar painted with an American flag. I am self-taught and concentrate my work in the medium of acrylics. I have returned many times to resume exhibiting in the tri-state area after recouping from the effects of Multiple Sclerosis. MS has slowly forced me to settle from a roaming gypsy life as I continue to express myself more loudly thru my painting and use the art venue to raise awareness of MS and adult stem cell. I am a MS activist and adult stem cell activist, hoping to see adult stem cells used to treat many illnesses.
