Jeanie Spradlin – Sand Springs, OK

I find painting re-directs my focus from my problems whether they are mental or physical. All I have to do is think about the next brush stroke or how to mix the next paint color. I was taught to be self-sufficient. My paintings are either from a picture in a magazine or a Christmas card I had received and liked.

Since I learned to paint in oils, I have stayed with processes where one starts with a blank canvas (such as we get with life) and to come forward. Other processes (pastels or watercolors) to me are inward looking and work where one thing overlaps or works off what is in the past. I prefer the working forward with my MS and not looking back.
