I was diagnosed with MS in 2018 after having numbness and weakness in my hands and feet. I had previously been an art teacher for 12 years and loved teaching my students that everyone could be an artist. However, when my symptoms started, it made it very difficult to paint or draw. I went many years without creating a single piece of art after my diagnosis. Then in 2023, I began watching an artist on YouTube who created fluid art using acrylic paints and a pouring medium. I knew this was something I could do since it didn’t require fine movements with my hands. So, I tried it and quickly developed a love for the technique. These paintings are from my first year of experimenting with this medium, and I hope to create many more in the years to come.
