Carmella Certion – Philadelphia, PA
I am an artist with MS who lives in Philadelphia, PA with my 4 cats and service dog, Cinnamon Monee. My primary mediums are acrylic paint, acrylic, and oil pastels. My inspiration comes from Picasso, Kandinsky, Pollock and Klint, using bold colors and geometric shapes to create and fuse together interesting patterns and contrasting colors to make each piece “pop.” My studio is my bedroom due to my disability, where I also create handmade rugs. I use art to combat anxiety and depression as well as a form of artistic expression. When I am not creating, I can be found relaxing with my faithful companion Cinnamon, conversing with my 5 grandchildren, or applying my combined education as a Gerontologist and Marriage and Family Therapist, to help those in my community.
