Women Painting Women: Suzanne Valadon and Marie Laurencin

For October we will focus on two Post-impressionist women artists, Suzanne Valadon and Marie Laurencin, both of whom had a major impact on how we view women artists and on how we view women as subjects in art, despite facing discrimination, poverty, and other considerable challenges.

Art expert and docent at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, Joe Caliva, will take us back to virtually revisit two special exhibitions at the Barnes which featured these remarkable artists, and we’ll explore how art helped improve their lives and the lives of countless others.
