Michelle Hotchkiss – Palmer, AK

I live in a small town in Alaska with my husband, who is my best friend and biggest supporter. I have two wonderful adult children and the cutest grandchildren ever born.

After years of odd symptoms, I was diagnosed with MS in 1994, when I ended up in the emergency room with a serious MS attack. I recovered and was able to return to work and led a very active lifestyle. Unfortunately, the MS has progressed overtime to the point where I can no longer do many of activities I enjoyed.

To fill my time, I started drawing and painting and found I had a talent for art. I am a self-taught and continue to develop my style, which tends to be very colorful. Art has opened up my world in new, exciting ways and enabled me to meet wonderful, colorful people that I would have never met otherwise.

The first painting is “Dragonfly” and is ink on Stonehenge paper.

The second painting is “Hazy Shade of Winter” and is inspired by standing on a glacier on a hazy winter day, with the colors of the glacier ice glowing in contrast to the grayness of the day. This is ink on Yupo paper.

The third painting is “Tree Swallow” inspired by the Tree Swallows that nest here in summer. Ink on Stonehenge paper.
